Make sure to change your air filter at least twice a year (if not more) to save on fuel and also extend the life of your engine. I'm definitely not a she-man mechanic, but I learned to change my own air filter and by doing-it-yourself, that saves you money too.

Save on fuel consumption in cold weather and in cold climates; wear thermal underwear, 2 pairs of socks, and gloves while driving. You can add a box of delicious milk chocolates to the mix while you lay off the truck heat and make saving sweet!

For best fuel efficiency, keep your tires properly inflated. Also, if you have to stop for more than 5 minutes, turn the truck off. You'll be surprised how much this saves.

For fuel savings, Consider using synthetic oil. The initial cost is higher, however, long term it's actually far less costly since fewer drain intervals are needed. I can at least double the drain interval. Also, the engine always runs smoother which contributes to fuel economy and there is superior protection to critical components. Cold weather starts are easier on the engine as the flow of synthetic is not affected by cold which also helps the batteries.

Consider also the less dependence on crude if many are using synthetics and less pollution from less drain intervals. All around the best way to go!

Obama caught a lot of grief during the high gas price period by saying we should inflate our tires to the maximum pressure allowed. The only thing is he was right. I've been inflating my truck tires to the max for years and have consistantly improved milage. Sure, the ride is a little more bumpy, but when you're saving money who cares?
